The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is involved in the administration of pre-election outside Iceland.


Materials


Electoral materials for use abroad
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is in charge of providing the electoral materials needed by electoral officers abroad.


Pre-election voting


The Ministry for Foreign Affairs supervises pre-election abroad
Postal voting abroad shall take place in the offices of Icelandic embassies and permanent missions to international organisations, consular offices or offices of honorary consulates, as determined in further detail by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs may also decide that voting is to take place at other locations abroad.


Those authorised to act as election managers involved with voting abroad shall include the heads of Iceland?s embassies and permanent missions, consuls, other diplomats as authorised by their relevant superiors, and other staff of embassies, permanent missions and consular offices as determined by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, honorary consuls as determined by special decision of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and special election managers nominated by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.


The Ministry for Foreign Affairs shall announce where and when postal votes can be cast abroad.
